In April 2010, you will have more choices in watermarking:
This change will only apply to photos that are uploaded via eBay Picture Services. Self-hosted images and those already being used in active listings, such as Good ‘Til Cancelled, will not be affected.
Currently, the default is set to the camera icon watermark. In March, the default setting will change to the “no watermark” option. To automatically watermark photos, change the default setting located in the Sell Your Item form.

1. When should I use watermarks on my photos?
A watermark is a semi-transparent mark on a photo or piece of printed material that helps to identify image ownership. While watermarks are not fool-proof, they can help deter image theft
2. Are there limitations on picture watermarks applied by eBay?
Yes. Because of space limitations, user ID watermarks are limited to the first 20 characters of longer user IDs. Also, with a few exceptions, watermarks are not applied to smaller picture sizes (less than 200 pixels on the longer side) or to images that are not for item listings (such as pictures uploaded to enhance your Shops design).
3. Can I watermark my photos using external tools?
You can watermark your photos using external tools. If you are using eBay Picture Server, make sure you set the default setting to the “no watermark” option before you upload your photo.
4. How big should my photos be?
Upload large, high quality images that are more than 1000 pixels on the longer side, with JPEG quality greater than 90. Avoid artificially increasing the size of your image with picture editing software if it doesn’t meet these requirements.
