Category and item specifics changes: update your listings to help increase sales

In the week beginning 22 August 2011, we’ll be refining the structure of some categories and item specifics to help make it easier and quicker for buyer’s to find your items, helping to increase sales.

The changes will affect the following categories:

  • Computing
  • Consumer Electronics
  • Jewellery & Watches
  • Mobile & Home Phones
  • Vehicle Parts & Accessories

We recommend that you add item specifics to your listings and update them to take account of any changes made from 22 August. Buyers use item specifics in their searches and by including them, you will help increase your visibility.

You will be able to review the detailed list of category and item specifics changes from 8 August and update them from 22 August.

Why add item specifics to your listings?

Using item specifics to describe your product provides buyers with a consistent search experience which helps them find what they want quicker and more easily.

We recommend that you use the specifics that we’ve provided to help maximise your chances of appearing in search results. However, if you feel item specifics to describe your listing are missing, you can add your own

How to update listings with item specifics

You can update active listings using:

  • Selling Manager / Selling Manager Pro
  • Turbo Lister
  • File Exchange
  • Bulk edit and relist

    If this happens, your listing will be moved automatically to the next most relevant category. If you need to relist any items in an affected category after the changes have been made, please revise your listings (including Good ‘Til Cancelled listings) and use the new category structure.
