New categories added to the eBay catalogue

By 24 September 2012, new categories will have been added to the eBay catalogue. You must list your items with a matching product from the eBay catalogue, where available, to avoid your listing being removed and losing sales.

Using the catalogue helps to make it faster and easier for buyers to find your listings. It’s also one of the criteria for appearing in the Value Box.

What you need to do

NOW

  • Check the catalogue adoption tool to see if you currently have listings to match with products from the existing eBay catalogue.

Benefits of listing with a matching product in the eBay catalogue

  • Save time – you can choose to add pre-filled product information, such as category, item specifics and stock photos instead of writing item descriptions and sourcing photos.
  • Quicker and easier for buyers to find the exact products they’re looking for.
  • Appear in the Value Box – greater visibility and sales. Note - you must be an eBay Top-rated seller for your listings to appear in the Value Box.
  • Larger audience – using the EAN as part of the eBay catalogue allows listings to appear in a wider range of channels, including Google Product Search.
  • Better matched listings – we're improving the way we use the information provided in item descriptions.
