Remove active content from your listings before 7 June

We’re giving a final reminder to remove any active content from listings before 7 June 2017, when it will be blocked from our site.

Active content is a broad term which covers any type of non-standard text that can be included in item descriptions to provide additional functionality. Examples include JavaScript, Flash, plug-ins and form actions.

When you remove it from your item descriptions, your listings will load faster and they will be easier to read on mobile devices.

Removing active content

Make sure you run your listings through the free i-ways checker to easily see if you’re using any active content.

If you’re using a third-party listing design template, contact your provider to make sure your template is fully up to date and compliant.

If you detect any active content in your listings you should:

Check our guide to removing active content for guidance on how to replace active content elements.

Design your own fully-compliant listing design template at i-ways.net - a free tool provided by eBay via our partner, i-ways.

Speak with your provider if you’re using a third-party listing design template and request an updated, compliant version. We’ve spoken to most major providers to prepare them for the changes.

If you don’t remove any active content by 7 June then it will be automatically disabled. Your listings will not display correctly and important details may disappear.
