Expanding our product identifier requirements

Expanding our product identifier requirements

We’re constantly improving eBay to create better matches between your items and buyer searches. That’s why we’re expanding the categories in which you must use product identifiers and introducing a number of other improvements.

What do you need to know?

  • From September 2017, your Good ‘Til Cancelled listings won’t be automatically renewed if they contain invalid product identifiers.
  • From 19 October 2017, you must include product identifiers for all new and revised listings in Seller refurbished condition, as well as for new and revised listings in Used condition in certain categories.

Good ‘Til Cancelled listings

From September 2017, Good ‘Til Cancelled listings won’t be automatically renewed if they contain invalid product identifiers.

Visit our UK Seller Centre for tips on resolving common issues with adding product identifiers.

Product identifiers for Seller refurbished and Used items

From 19 October 2017, if you’re listing new items or revising existing listings in Seller refurbished condition, you’ll need to include the relevant product identifiers.

In addition, you’ll need to include product identifiers for new and revised listings in Used condition in some subcategories. If your Used items don’t have a product identifier, you can use Does not apply.

Visit our UK Seller Centre to download the full list of product identifiers by category.

We're giving sellers more time to add product identifiers to their Good 'Til Cancelled listings so they can focus on the upcoming festive season. The same requirement to add product identifiers will apply to Good 'Til Cancelled listings in 2018 in the same item conditions and used categories.

Create extra exposure for bundles and lots

You can gain extra exposure for multiple-item listings by creating a bundle, a combination of related items in 1 listing, or a lot, 2 or more of the same item in a single listing.

Bundle and lot listings will now be highlighted in the buyer shopping experience, which could help drive more interest in and better conversion of your listings. Opportunities for additional exposure include search results pages and product pages.
